Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Bayley

Pamela Martinez or known to the fans as Bayley is a woman of Mexican descent. She’s one of the four horsewomen of WWE. Bayley has held various titles in WWE, holding six different reigns as a champion.

Before WWE, Bayley was cruising the independent circuit as Davina Rose from 2008 to 2012. She would sign with WWE in 2013, first appearing in a match as Luchadora where she wore a mask. In that match, she teamed up with Charlotte Flair and Paige.

She would then come back on March 20, 2013, and debut on an episode of NXT where she would lose to Alicia Fox. Bayley had a few feuds in NXT, but none compares to her feud with the Boss, Sasha Banks. Bayley would defeat Sasha Banks for the first time and win the title at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn on August 20, 2015.

Both ladies would have a rematch on October 7th on the PPV NXT Takeover: Respect. They would participate in the first-ever women’s 30-minute iron man match. For me, this is where I became a fan. Bayley would win with 3 falls out of the five in this match. She would get the third fall with three seconds left on the clock.

Bayley would hold the title for 223 days, a reign that was ended by Asuka. She would go on to win the WWE Raw Women’s Championship, The SmackDown Women’s Championship, and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. This made her the first women’s Triple Crown Champion. She would also be the first-ever Women’s Grand Slam Champion in history.

Bayley would hold the SmackDown women’s title for 380 days, which is the current record for that title. On top of that, she was the 2019 Money in the Bank winner, and the first woman to defend her title in an event in Saudi Arabia. Bayley has made some amazing accomplishments. Now that she is part of the faction Damage Control, I can’t wait to see what else she does.
