Io Shirai Updates Fans After Bad Ladder Bump at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc

This Tuesday, Io Shirai took a nasty fall off the top ladder during the Scareway to Hell Ladder Match.

Halloween Havoc opened the show with Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne winning the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions by defeating Io Shirai, Zoey Stark, and Indi Hartwell, and Persia Pirotta. There was a spot where Hartwell and Shirai fought over the ladder, but Indi was knocked off. Shirai continued to climb up the ladder until Indi tipped the ladder over, sending Shirai flying off the ladder, crashing onto a ladder bridge from the apron to the announce table. The loud smack onto the floor caused fans to chant “holy sh*t!” while Hartwell, without breaking character, seemed worried from the ring. The Japanese star’s bump was a frightening moment leaving many questioning for an update on her health.

After the show, Shirai tweeted that she was just upset about losing the titles. “I am not dead. I will always keep getting up to do my best. Just sad that the title is not on my waist.” She also wrote a message to Indi Hartwell saying, “I HATE INDI HARTWELL.”

The match marked the end of her Tag Team Title streak alongside Stark, which means the strange couple tag team could part ways for now. The rumors are speculating that Shirai might be called up to the main roster soon. However, we have to wait and see what is next for Stark and Shirai since they are no longer champions. Later in the show, Toxic Attraction would take a clean sweep as Mandy Rose by dethroning Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women’s Championship.
