This week will be quite busy for The Virtuosa, Deonna Purrazzo. On AEW Dynamite, Purrazzo will face Mercedes Martinez in a Champion versus Champion match for the ROH Women’s World Championship. In addition, her rematch with AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, Taya Valkyrie, will take place Saturday at Under Siege.
Before the chaos begins, Purrazzo sits down with us and has some words for each of her opponents.
Thoughts on Mercedes Martinez and their match on Wednesday:
“I created this division. I am the figurehead of the Ring of Honor women’s division. And it’s going to stay that way no matter, whether it’s Mercedes Martinez or anybody else. No one will forget the legacy that I’ve built around this Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship.”
Thoughts on game plan upon her rematch with Taya Valkyrie:
“I think with Taya I did the same at Rebellion and obviously did not work in my favor. So I always think that if you don’t win you learn and I think what I learned is take it back to my roots, go back to the basics.”
She goes back to her win over Valkyrie at last year’s Hard to Kill asking, “Is it taking down her leg to get to the arm? Or is it working on her back and pinpointing a different weakness? But, maybe not taking so many chances that I took at Rebellion.”
Thoughts on her feud with Mickie James and her attributions:
“I think that Mickie and I both, [we] have very tough skin. We can just say stuff to each other and it doesn’t upset us.” She continues, “Especially on social media, when you can’t understand people’s tones and things get lost in translation really quick. So I think we can attribute it to me and Mickie having a really great relationship outside of wrestling.”
