Naomi: Our Glow Queen

Trinity Fatu aka Naomi, a WWE wrestler, is an incredibly talented and versatile person. She was a cheerleader for the Orlando Magic and a background dancer for rapper Flo Rida before joining the WWE. Her professional wrestling career began in 2009 when he signed with Florida Championship Wrestling.

As a Lumberjill in the Queen of FCW match, she made her professional wrestling debut as Naomi during that time. Naomi turned heel soon after, and the fans continued to cheer for her even though she was a bad guy, showing that she was over with the crowd. It was in June of that year, after a successful heel run for her, that she turned back face and became the first ever FCW Divas Champion.

It was revealed at the end of WWE NXT Season 2 that McCray would compete in Season 3 of WWE NXT with Kelly Kelly as her storyline pro. On September 7, Naomi made her NXT debut as a face. Alicia Fox and her rookie Maxine were defeated when Naomi pinned Maxine. She also won the dance contest challenge and the capture the flag challenge.

NXT Season 3 Champion Kaitlyn was crowned, while Naomi came in second place. On the January 9, 2012, episode of Raw, Naomi and Cameron Lynn made their debut as Brodus Clay’s dancers and valets. As part of a segment with Clay, Naomi made her WrestleMania debut with Cameron at WrestleMania XXVIII. The Divas Champion AJ Lee was a frequent opponent for Naomi in tag team matches beginning in January 2014, and she eventually managed to pin her on both Raw and SmackDown.

Her next championship run began on the January 24, 2017, episode of SmackDown when Naomi challenged Alexa Bliss to a championship match. During the Elimination Chamber pay–per–view, Naomi defeated Bliss to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship, becoming the first African–American woman to win the title. Sadly, Naomi would have to relinquish the title shortly after due to injury. Naomi then came back and defeated Alexa Bliss in a six-pack challenge at WrestleMania 33 in her hometown of Orlando on April 2 to reclaim the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship.

Outside of her championships, Naomi has played a main role for the reality television show Total Divas, been a member of one of the most notable stables in WWE Women’s history, B.A.D., brought one of the most iconic gimmicks in WWE history with the Glow, released music and appeared in video games. We would also be remiss not to mention that she is married to another successful wrestler, Jimmy Uso aka Johnathan Fatu.

Naomi’s talent and tenacity, now in her tenth year on the main roster, is undeniable. I’m sure Naomi will continue to be a huge inspiration in Women’s Wrestling forever!
