Ricky J’s Wrasslin Road Report: AEW 3-Year Anniversary Week

Welcome to the first edition of Ricky’s Wrasslin Road report on Women’s Wrestling Talk! It’s where I give you the highlights of the events from my perspective as I’m on the road. This time I was at The DC Entertainment and Sports arena in Washington DC for AEW Dynamite’s 3rd anniversary as well as Rampage and Battle of the Belts IV.

DYNAMITE (Wednesday 10/5/22)

Dr. @Realbrittbaker, D👇M👇D declares #AEW is HER HOUSE! Tune in NOW to #AEWDynamite's 3rd Anniversary LIVE on TBS pic.twitter.com/roSL0O9B5e — All Elite Wrestling (@AEW) October 6, 2022

Britt Baker D.M.D. is declaring backstage that Saraya is still not medically cleared to compete and that she should be bubble-wrapped and removed? Additionally, Baker stated that AEW is Brit’s home and not hers. Penelope Ford, Jamie Hayter, and Virginia’s Serena Deeb will face Willow Nightingale, Athena, and interim AEW World Women’s Champion Toni Storm in a trios’ match.

Penelope Ford, Serena Deeb, And Jamie Hayter w/ Rebel “Not Reba”, Britt Baker D.M.D, & Kip Sabian V. Willow Nightingale, Athena, & Interim AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm

Willow, Athena, and Toni occupied a spot on the same team. The crowd subsequently applauded when Jamie Hayter was tagged in. Serena Deeb and Hayter performed Dueling Suplexes on Willow and Athena while Deeb held Storm in an Indian Death Lock. Then Willow connects an Anderson Spinebuster as Saraya confronts Reba, sorry, I mean Rebel. Willow hits a blue Thunder bomb to win the game for her team in the final round. After that, Saraya and Britt engaged in a vicious brawl.

The first of the backstage interviews was conducted with Willow Nightingale, who was overly enthusiastic about her pinfall victory in the trios’ match, which resulted in a victory for her team, and declared that she is on a roll. Until she was interrupted by Kiera Hogan, Leila Grey, and AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill, she declared her intention to challenge for the TBS Championship. Willow, according to Jade, desires to be number 39. However, Willow responds to Jade by saying. “Jade, you’ve may beat twice but can you do it a third time? Since you’re going to be confident being 39-0. But you can’t win forever. Nobody wins forever. So, what if you’re 38-1 and I’m the one.”

Then, Tony Schiavone is backstage interviewing Madison Rayne and her protégé Skye Blue. Madison tells Schiavone that she is proud of blue’s pro wrestling skills, but they are confronted by Anna, a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society. Jay A.S. and Tay Melo, also referred to as Tay-Jay A.S. Tay-Jay believes that sports entertainment is superior to professional wrestling. Skye Blue responds that if Tay-Jay A. S. believes that sports entertainment is superior, then they should stick to it, as they were terrible at wrestling. Tay-Jay A.S. were so offended by this that they challenged Rayne and Blue at rampage to a tag team match.

RAMPAGE (Friday 10/7/22)

Madison Rayne & Skye Blue V. Tay-Jay. A.S.

Former Dark Order members and current members of The Jericho Appreciation Society, Tay-Jay A.S., will compete against Madison Rayne and Skye Blue, with Rayne and Anna Jay as the legal women. In a later match where Blue and Tay Melo were the legal women, Blue scored two counts on Tay Melo. Then Tay identifies anna jay, who fought against blue. Throughout this match, Tay-Jay A.S. utilized their knowledge of tag team wrestling to their advantage, with the exception of the two-count. Blue tags Rayne with the hot tag, and Rayne then tags Blue with the comeback. Tay Melo receives another two counts, then tags in Anna Jay, who executes a brutal bomb on blue. The match has concluded. Tay-Jay A.S. won with an unsuccessful double team move and a chokehold.

Battle Of the Belts IV

TBS Championship Jade Cargill © w/ The Baddies V. Willow Nightingale

Beginning with a tie-up amidst the D.C. crowd immediately out of the gate. Regarding chants for both competitors, it is a coin flip. A willow receives a two count from a dropkick, clothesline, and suplex. Then, since she had the upper hand, Willow attacks the baddies. Jade counters with a suplex of her own and a kip up, giving her the upper hand. Willow attempts to defend herself, but Jade locks on a sleeper hold. Crowds in Washington, D.C. are cheering for Willow, but Jade still holds the advantage. Using her agility, Willow fought back, resulting in a pin attempt and a two-count. Following a faceplant slam, Jade retains the title.
