Thekla vs Starlight Kid Forbidden Door

The AEW World women’s championship has had some great feuds attached to it that have involved bitter rivalries before. 

However, this feud between Thekla and Starlight Kid really takes the cake. A rivalry that spans promotions and continents and even involves presidents of the company. 

Let’s dig into this this insanely intense match between Thekla and Starlight Kid. 

Thekla comes into this match still having a chip on her shoulder after being fired from the Stardom promotion. 

This firing was absolutely due to Thekla’s reckless behavior and being a straight up terror to that rest of the roster in April of 2025. 

The President of Stardom had to put his foot down and set the tone that this kind of lawlessness could not stand. Needless to say, Thekla did not take this well. 

In the buildup to this feud, Thekla mocks Stardom. Saying that she still holds a grudge for how she was treated. How Starlight Kid received special treatment during training and foreigners like her were getting harsh and unfair directions in their regiments that would’ve broke someone else.

Thekla is so disgusted with the thought of Stardom that she spits on the logo Stardom has plastered on the titanron for the advertisement for Forbidden door weeks before the match. This sets the tone very early that Thekla is going in not just destroy Starlight Kid, but to defame and humiliate Stardom. A company that she now feels is beneath her. 

Let’s not forget that Thekla must also have a grudge against Starlight Kid because she has a win over her during their time competing in Stardom . 

Starlight Kid is fighting for the integrity of Stardom. She is a leader of the locker room and takes this responsibility seriously. 

Both entrances for this match were astounding and set the tone for a big time matchup feel. The ring announcers from AEW and Stardom really aided in getting the crowd hyped. This truly was an interpromotional match that made the crowd pick a side. There was bad blood between the prseident of Stardom and AEW's womens world champion that was going to get resolved tonight.

This match made us ask, are we rooting for the high flying beloved babyface with Starlight Kid? Someone that represents her entire locker room? Or the razor sharp heel Thekla that will do anything to embarrass and hurt her past company?  

We see early on that The president of Stardom Taro Okada is at ringside. Hoping that Starlight kid can bring home a victory. 

This match was down and dirty early on. Both women clawing and scratching to tear one another apart. 

Starlight kid had an awkward landing on a move in the beginning and Thekla takes full advantage of this. 

Taking Starlight Kid to the outside and throws her hard into the guardrails. Thekla tried to intimidate Okada (the owner of Stardom) when Stalight intervenes. 

Making it clear that she is not intimidated by the spider woman and will protect her boss from Thekla’s assaults. 

Thekla feels quite confident as she holds control for the first half of this match. But Starlight Kid makes a comeback, attacking the knee of Thekla. Thekla gets a spider suplex in that puts her back into the game! 

Starlight does a sickening divine punishment finisher that’s just a devastating drop on the ring apron that looks to mess up the neck of the champ. 

But somehow Thekla gets up and pulls of a spear. 

Both women come head to head to throw blows in the middle of the ring as they are visibly spent.

Thekla does her signature spider walk which is supposed to be followed by a spear… however, her leg gives out and Starlight Kid immediately sees an opening. 

Attacking the leg to put into a torture reck like move. Thekla is put into a vicious submission. Twisting her in every way. Somehow Thekla gets to the rope. 

A moonsault press from Thekla almost gets the win. The crowd chants “This is Awesome”. 

Thekla goes for her spear and a pin. But Starlight Kid kicks out. Thekla gets two curb stomps in to win. 

A visibly disappointed Taro Okada of Stardom is seen looking on at the comclusion of this match. This shows that the win for Thekla won’t be taken well in the Joshi promotion. 

Thekla shockingly (or not so shockingly) takes off the mask of Starlight Kid as her crew stands in the ring and spits inside of it. Then proceeds to physically attack the president of Stardom again. 

What a disrespectful way to end this bitter feud. Or what a wonderfully demented way to continue this feud on after Forbidden Door. My fingers are crossed that this commences. 

The reign of Thekla is here and it is vicious and glorious to watch!!
