AEW Forbidden Door Media Call

We are only a few days away from AEW Forbidden Door this Sunday at San Jose, CA. I had the opportunity to attend the media call with Tony Khan to discuss some of the biggest matches in one of their annual PPVs. For a quick refresher, AEW Forbidden Door is heading into its fifth year partnering with NJPW, Stardom, and CMLL. During the call, Tony Khan gave high praise to the reigning AEW Women's Champion Thekla on her charisma and confidence since she made her debut a year ago. He recalls when he first signed her there was doubt but it ended being successful along with her alliance with the Triangle of Madness. He also made note about Maya World's continued Cinderella Story as she pinned her mentor ROH Women's Champion Athena and will be in one of the biggest matches of her career against Mercedes Moné in the Owen Hart Cup Women's Finals.

I had the opportunity to ask Tony Khan if there will be more participation with Stardom post Forbidden due to the recent partnership with MLW and AEW TV appearance of Hazuki. Tony mentioned he would love to have extra presence with Stardom and gave high remarks about Starlight Kid. Starlight Kid will be making her AEW debut against one of her rivals Thekla for the AEW Women's Championship. Tony noted that he has been trying to get Starlight Kid onto AEW programming for years and happy that this weekend is the opportunity for people to learn more about Starlight Kid.
