Impact’s Fiendish Knockout: Su Yung

Vannarah Riggs, better known as Su Yung or Sonia, is one of the most well-known Knockouts to ever wrestle in Impact. Her storylines, themes, and wrestling ability is revered, and her backstage leadership is praised through the industry. She is a Lao/Cambodian American in origin.

In 2007, Riggs moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in order to pursue a career in professional wrestling. Lady Sports, MLL, GCW, and Jerry Lawler’s Memphis Wrestling are just a few of the companies she’s worked with. She has also been in Main Event Championship Wrestling, SHINE, and Shimmer.


Riggs first introduced the Sonia name in Florida Championship Wrestling, the developmental ground for WWE. At a Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) house show held on September 18, 2010, she made her debut. On December 2, 2010, she debuted in the FCW ring as a heel, losing to AJ Lee at a house show. Sonia lost to Aksana on July 8 in an FCW Divas Championship triple-threat match. On August 8, 2011, she was released from her contract for development.


Su Yung made her Impact debut by attacking Allie on a March 2018 episode of the season. Su would go on to win the Impact Knockouts Championship by defeating Allie in the final. Su held the Knockouts Championship for 110 days before losing it in a triple threat match to Tessa Blanchard. Su defeated Deonna to win the Knockouts Championship for a second time at Bound for Glory XVI. Deonna would reclaim it from her 21 days later.
