Summer Rae Talks Her Royal Rumble Appearance Being Announced

Summer Rae has been confirmed for the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble, which will be her first WWE appearance since leaving the company in 2016. On a Friday Night Smackdown broadcast on January 7, Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair unveiled the field of the 19 women that would compete in this year’s 30-woman Royal Rumble match. Summer Rae, an unusual name, was added to the mix as a surprise. Rae took to her Instagram story to share her participation in this year’s Royal Rumble.

“Okay, so obviously I can’t sleep. I’ve been on Twitter and I am so overwhelmed by the amazing response on Twitter by you guys. Oh my gosh, like, we weren’t even supposed to announce that I was going to be in the Rumble, it was going to be a surprise and then, I found out a couple of hours ago. So I was really nervous to look on Twitter, because people are mean, like, people just be mean on Twitter and the response — everyone was so nice. You guys have me in my feels. Everyone’s so hyped. I don’t know, I’ve just been gone so long that I didn’t know what the response would be like, I didn’t know if it’d be positive or negative and it’s just so good. Thank you so much. All my friends are being so supportive and just the fans like, WrestleTwitter’s just insane, and I’m just so excited, and now I’m happy that I don’t have to keep this a surprise until the end of the month.”

Rae went on to say that during her recent Q&A, she did her best to dissuade people from believing she was making a comeback. In my most recent Q&A, when I said ‘Oh, no, I have so much going on. I wouldn’t go back.’ I’ve known for weeks. Don’t sleep on me. I was playing. I was working y’all. It’s a work. Life is a work.”

With Rae’s entrance to the Rumble this year, fans are ready for another fight between Rae and Natalya, the Guinness World Record Holder, since their animosity has resurfaced with Rae’s admission to the Rumble.

I’m sorry, my apologies as it’s hard to recall people so far beneath me. Who are you? @NatbyNature No shade as you do look very familiar 🧐🧐 https://t.co/RttlJxzCBb — Summer Rae (@DanielleMoinet) January 8, 2022

Ohhhh yes, thank you for posting this now I remember. How could I forget Mrs Get off my Property 🤣🤣 #AllTalk https://t.co/O513mSJ4en — Summer Rae (@DanielleMoinet) January 8, 2022

Only time will tell if WWE intends to bring Rae back to the arena full-time, but Rae appears to be ready to brawl with the other 29 ladies. I can assure you that when “Call To Me” plays in the The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, all the women should keep an eye on it.
