The Ballsy Badass: Shotzi Blackheart

Ashley Urbanski made her professional wrestling debut in May 2015 at Alternative Wrestling Show as Shotzi Blackheart. She beat Brittany Wonder in her first match.

From then, Blackheart competed in bouts for organizations such as Gold Rush Pro Wrestling, HOODSLAM, Supreme Pro Wrestling, Big Time Wrestling, and All-Pro Wrestling.

During her early years, she went throughout the United States to compete in several organizations, including RISE Wrestling, SHIMMER Women Athletes, and International Wrestling Cartel. Blackheart also toured internationally, appearing in organizations like Desastre Total Ultraviolento in Mexico and British Empire Wrestling, Preston City Wrestling, International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom, and Pro Wrestling EVE in England.

Blackheart achieved championship success on the independent circuit, winning the Women’s Championship at Alternative Wrestling Show, the Ladies Championship at East Bay Pro Wrestling, the Lady Luck Championship at Gold Rush Pro Wrestling, the Phoenix Of RISE Championship at RISE Wrestling, and the Nova Championship at SHINE Wrestling.

Blackheart made her WWE debut in season 6 as one of the season’s six females. Blackheart was forced to withdraw from the competition due to a medical condition and was replaced by Gabi, who finished tenth.

Blackheart joins WWE on October 15, 2019, and will report to the WWE Performance Center. On December 18th, she made her WWE NXT debut, losing to “The EST of WWE” Bianca Belair. On January 15, 2020, Blackheart beat Shayna Baszler in a battle royal for the NXT Women’s Championship.

This resulted in a match between Blackheart and Baszler on the following show, which Blackheart lost. In the women’s Royal Rumble, Blackheart advanced to the final seven before being eliminated by Baszler. Deonna Purrazzo attacked her backstage after the fight, forcing a rematch on January 29, 2020, which Blackheart won.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bayley and Sasha Banks defeated Blackheart and Tegan Nox on June 17. Shotzi and Nox would join the WWE main roster on Smackdown on July 9, 2021. Despite multiple victories against WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina, they were never given a title chance.

Eventually, Shotzi became a singles competitor, after Nox was released from WWE. She wrestled against Charlotte Flair in a non-title match on Smackdown. However, she was unsuccessful due to a distraction from Sasha Banks, resulting in Shotzi attacking Banks from behind. She was meant to be in a brief rivalry with The Boss, but the narrative was abandoned. Until the 2022 Royal Rumble, we hadn’t seen much of The Ballsy Badass. She appeared in the Beat of Clock against Ronda Rousey but failed to win the match.
