The return of the CEO

Following the incredible opening for the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament, it was imperative that the follow up to the Double or Nothing ppv banger between Athena and Mira Shirakawa lived up to the hype.

I like to believe that AEW booked this second match with the wildcard option brilliantly.

Alex Windsor went into this matchup not knowing who she was going up against. This could of course leave a compeitior rattled and feel like theyre ill prepared for the style a mystery opponent might bring to the table. However, Alex looked confident.

The crowd was on the edge of their seat to see who would be entering into this tournament.

When the Mercedes Moné CEO logo popped up on the screen, the fans was shocked and excited to see what energy Ms Moné would bring to this tournament.

Chants of CEO can be heard ringing throughout the arena, as one of the most decorated women’s champions in history as well as the 2025 Owen Hart tournament winner Mercedes Moné graces us with her presence.

Moné takes this spot, as it was vacated after Willow Nightingale had to step down after her injury announcement.

Unsurprisingly, Mercedes comes into this matchup cocky as any former champ would and takes control early on.

Alex Windsor was pulling out the big guns with some swift arm drags, but the equally quick Mercedes Moné turns that arm drag into a face lock.

Reminding every one of her amazing quick as lighting submission holds that she’s known for. Mercedes has the crowd behind her all the way.

You see the focus and drive to get back to the top of the roster. Even eyeing the women’s championship as she was entering the ring early on.

We get some outside ring action when Mercedes delivers strong knees to the chest of Windsor driving her to the ground from the apron of the ring.

The CEO is on fire as she delivers her version of the three amigos and showing that being out of action for the first part of 2026 has not taken away from her stamina in the ring.

Alex starts to make a comeback. Taking the wind out of Mercedes with a cannonball from the apron. Helping to level the playing field and change the control of this match.

Mercedes regains her strength at the top of the ropes and drives her knees into Alex. Moné attempts the pin, but Alex musters up the ability to kick out. What a tough cookie!

A shocked Mone doesn’t get angry or frustrated like she would in the past.

She gets Alex with the knees again in the corner, but Windsor somehow rolls Mercedes in a pin.

Mercedes kicks out, gets out of the pin and attempts to get a back stabber in.

However Mone's signature bank statement finisher is what gets the win.

The CEO advances to get a step closer to possibly being a back to back Owen Hart Tournament winner!!!

This match was the perfect way for Mercedes Moné to return.

As a well as a great solo match for Alex Windsor. She really held her own in the ring with a premier former champ like Mercedes.

Stay tuned for more Owen Hart Women’s Tournament action next week on AEW Dynamite. Wednesday at 8pm est on HBO Max
