WWE Superstar Jade Cargill Takes Hollywood by Storm with Acting Debut Opposite Jonathan Majors in Action Thriller ‘True Threat’

WWE Superstar Jade Cargill is stepping into the world of acting with a major role in the action-packed thriller True Threat, starring alongside Jonathan Majors. The film, directed by Gerard McMurray (known for The First Purge and Burning Sands), is a Harlem-set action thriller that promises to deliver high-stakes drama and intense performances.

True Threat, produced by Alexis Garcia’s CAT5 and Charlamagne Tha God, features a gripping story about Special Forces operative Vernon Threat (played by Majors), who returns home to Harlem seeking justice after his teenage son is murdered by the Apollo Kids gang. Determined to avenge his son’s death, Threat infiltrates the gang’s stronghold in a 20-story building called The Carter. The plot follows his violent ascent through the building, taking down various gang leaders on each floor until he confronts the head of the gang and his former mentor, Shallow.

Cargill, who has made waves in WWE with her powerful in-ring presence, takes on the role of Meeka, a lieutenant within the Apollo Kids. Meeka controls the building’s red-light district, where she wields significant power. Her character is one of the film’s central antagonists, and her portrayal will showcase a dynamic, physical, and stylized performance, drawing from her impressive athletic background.

The casting of Cargill marks a significant step forward for the project. She becomes the second actor attached to True Threat, joining Jonathan Majors, who was cast earlier this year. According to Deadline, production on the film is slated to begin this fall.

Director Gerard McMurray shared his excitement about working with Cargill, stating, “She is a unique talent with a rare blend of athleticism, charisma, and control on camera. The role of Meeka requires presence and precision, and Jade brings both. I believe audiences will see a completely new side of her in this film.”

Cargill’s involvement in True Threat is a major leap into the film industry, following her breakout performance at WWE’s WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. Since joining WWE, she has quickly risen to prominence as one of the company’s most visible stars, capturing the attention of fans worldwide.

The film is also notable for its inclusion of 52 Blocks, a Black American martial arts style that is being brought to the big screen for the first time in a major way. Action design for the film is being led by Larnell Stovall, known for his work on The Continental, further enhancing the project’s commitment to intense and authentic action storytelling.

Cargill, who holds a master’s degree in child psychology, is also co-owner of the Atlanta Smoke women’s professional fastpitch team. Her diverse background, from sports to psychology, showcases her versatility and multifaceted career. Represented by Paradigm, Cargill is now set to make her mark in Hollywood, with True Threat poised to be her first step into the film industry.

The producing team at CAT5, including Charlamagne Tha God and Basil Iwanyk (known for John Wick and Nobody), expressed their enthusiasm for Cargill’s addition to the project, saying, “Jade is exactly the type of dynamic talent we want to introduce to the global film audience. She is already a force in the sports and entertainment world, and we believe this is just the beginning for her on the big screen.”

As True Threat continues to build momentum, Jade Cargill’s acting debut is one of the most anticipated elements of the film. With her proven ability to captivate audiences in the ring, her transition to the big screen will undoubtedly capture the imagination of fans and moviegoers alike.
