Earlier this month, our PR Princess of WWT Courtney Rice had the opportunity to cover the Battle for the Brave event at Rahway, NJ. Battle for the Brave was a concept created by husband/wife duo Deonna Purrazzo and Steve Maclin that were looking to raise awareness on a passion they love and that was the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The Tunnel for Towers Foundation originated from the unexpected death of local firefighter Stephen Gerard Siller on September 11, 2001. What made the show even more special is this year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and continues to share their support to families who were affected after 9/11.
The evening kicked off with the Red Carpet that featured wrestlers from TNA, Independent, and AEW who shared their thoughts on participating in the event. Courtney had the opportunity to ask independent wrestlers Emily Jaye and Kaia Mckenna their thoughts on participating in the event while sharing the impact of women's wrestling. She also had the opportunity to ask AEW/ROH Commentator Ian Riccaboni his thoughts doing commentary for an important cause and independent tag team The Verdict on their recent appearance on TNA before their big match against The Hardys.

The event started off hot with an exciting match between Rich Swann and the Amazing Red that brought the energy to the crowd. Then we have ladies action between independent stars Kaia Mckenna and Gabby Forza who laid it all on the line and are two stars the major promotions need to check out as their wrestling stock is on the rise. The ladies action didn't stop as we had a tag team match between Tiara James and Emily Jaye taking on Pricilla Kelly & Shotzi Blackheart. All four ladies tore the house down that brought all the energy, charisma, and grit. We also had another female sighting as former AEW Women's Champion and TBS Champion Kris Statlander participated in the inaugural Battle For The Brave Cup Gauntlet match as the sole female participant. Kris Statlander delivered an incredible performance that left the crowd speechless before Richard Holliday picked up the win. The main event ended with a high flying tag team match between The Hardys and The Verdict. If you haven't been paying attention, The Verdict is a tag team consisting of VSK and Bryce Donovan in the independent scene that have been making waves at TNA, Wrestling Open, Create A Pro and throughout the entire Northeast. The minute the Hardys came out, the crowd was already on their feet and knew exactly what to expect by one of the GOATs of Tag Team Wresting. Overall, the event delivered and raised over $1000 to support the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. We want to thank Deonna, Steve, and Johanna for letting Women's Wrestling Talk cover the event that's going to a good cause.
