A statement from AEW CEO Tony Khan today confirmed the departure of Brandi Rhodes and her husband Cody Rhodes from the company. Khan informed his followers of the terrible news through a tweet he sent to his account. Apparently, the parties were unable to reach an agreement. She held the position of Chief Brand Officer and competed in the ring.

A few months after, following the birth of their first child, Brandi returned. On the Feb. 2 episode of Dynamite, Dan Lambert and Paige VanZant got into a verbal scuffle, which led to a fight. This would have been her last match with the business had she not defeated KiLynn King on Elevation back in January.

No one can say for sure whether or not “Rhodes to the Top” will ever return, but I’m hoping the WWE rumors are real so they can scout fresh talent and new matches for the company’s ring. The loss of Cody and Brandi is a significant blow to the AEW roster, and it will be fascinating to watch how they develop the organization around someone else.
