Hey There Foxy! My Appreciation for Alicia Fox

Victoria Crawford, also known as Alicia Fox to wrestling fans, was born on June 30, 1986. Crawford was a model prior to her 2006 WWE debut. On October 20 of that year, she debuted on OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling), where she won the championship. Fox lost it the next day, so it isn’t a recognized title. In 2007, she attended FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling).

On June 13, 2008, she made her debut on the main roster of SmackDown. She was hired as the wedding coordinator for Vickie Guerrero and Edge. Long before she began to wrestle. She was grossly underrated and made everyone appear wealthy. Her move set was consistently precise and technical.

Alicia Fox would remain with WWE until her 2019 retirement. In WWE, she is now regarded as a legend. I would add that this is entirely appropriate.

As with many others, Alicia’s struggles with alcohol led to her retirement, but she appears to be doing well. On Instagram on October 4, 2022, it was announced that Alicia Fox was engaged to her four-year boyfriend Michael Fitzgerald. Seeing Alicia appear happy after her personal struggles prompted me to consider some of her best qualities.

The Only Black Woman to Win the Diva’s Title

The WWE Diva’s Champion was a pink and silver butterfly-adorned title that was used from 2008 to 2016. This championship belt will be retired and replaced with the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. However, prior to its retirement, the belt was held by a number of remarkable women. Michelle McCool would become the first winner on July 20, 2008. Paige, at 21 years old, would be the youngest woman to hold the title. However, let’s return to Ms. Fox.

Alicia would compete in a Fatal Four Way match on a pay-per-view titled the same on June 20, 2010. She would be competing against Gail Kim, Eve Torres, and Maryse. Despite the short duration of this match, Alicia was able to pin Maryse and become the new champion. This made her the first and only Black woman to achieve this accomplishment. A feat in and of itself at the time. Alicia held the title for 56 days before Melina defeated her at SummerSlam on August 15, 2010.

Alicia Fox had an amazing moveset that was varied, precise, and beautifully done in WWE. She consistently executed her moves with accuracy.

Throughout her baby-face run from 2011 to 2012, Alicia utilized a baby-face move set. These moves included sunset flips, single leg drops, Enzuigiris, leapfrogs, and her leg drop finisher, dubbed Officer Nasty.

Her seated full nelson, wheelbarrow (gourd buster) bridging snap suplex, and flawless northern lights suplex are among my favorite moves from her. Absolute perfection in each and every instance. So many effortless movements, yet so little appreciation.

Making Others Look like a Million Bucks

There were many matches in which Alicia was entertaining, but regardless of the match, she always made her opponent look like a superstar. I recall her 2009 match against Mickie James at Hell in a Cell. Even though she lost, she stood out during the brief match. She executed an impressive Tilt-a-Whirl Backbreaker, but my favorite move of hers was the Northern Lights suplex.

Considering she was a rookie at the time, it was impressive, and her support for Mickie made her look even more incredible during that match. 2017’s Monday Night Raw triple threat match with Sasha Banks and Bayley was another of her matches that I enjoyed. It was a match to determine who would lead the Raw team in that year’s Survivor Series. She utilized Bayley’s Belly-to-Belly suplex to win the match, which she made entertaining throughout.

As previously stated, Alicia Fox is frequently underrated and underappreciated. I wish WWE had given her more opportunities and pushes. Who knows what else she may have accomplished? However, she never complained and did everything she was asked to demonstrate that she was not only a hard worker but also a team player.

I wish Alicia the best of luck with her engagement and Ms. Foxy the best of luck with her future ventures.
