Last night AEW Dynamite hosted the first ever female Survival of the Fittest for the TBS Championship. After Willow Nightingale relinquish the TBS Championship due to an injury, we had several qualifying matches throughout the month of June that came down to the big match. Kris Statlander, Hikaru Shida, Queen Aminata, Harley Cameron, CMLL's Persephone, and Stardom's Maika were the six participants that delivered chaos, excitement, and the AEW Women's Division has something to prove.
Granted, Toni Storm and Mercedes Moné are at the top of the AEW Women's Division but don't count out the ladies that have been there since Day 1, came through the partnership from CMLL and Stardom, or are now reinventing themselves to show why they deserved to be at the top of the AEW Women's Division in the next 5 years. All 6 ladies showcased that and need to be featured more on AEW's main flagship show on a consistent basis.

The match came down to the final two ladies Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida. Quick refresher, Kris Statlander was a former TBS Championship after beating Jade Cargill in 2023. Both of these ladies were no strangers to each other and after Persephone gave a cheap shot to Kris Statlander, Hikaru Shida is the new TBS Champion. Shida is now the second female to hold both the AEW Women's Championship and TBS Championship. Congratulations to Shida and looking forward to seeing her reign. Who do you think should be Shida's first challenger?
