Io Shirai has been steadily promoted up the WWE NXT women’s roster, making her a top performer. Unfortunately, she seems to be on the sidelines for the time being. Shirai and Kay Lee Ray won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament this year, earning a chance at the tag team championship against Toxic Attraction.
Io Shirai and Ray, along with current champion Mandy Rose and Cora Jade, were scheduled in the Women’s Title match at NXT Stand & Deliver earlier this month, making it a fatal 4-way from Dallas, Texas.
Io performed a moonsault from the top rope to the floor to knock out Ray during the match. However, her leg collided with the announce table on the way down. Sean Slate, a Twitter user, witnessed Io using crutches and a walking boot while with Shinsuke Nakamura… If she’s hurt, it’ll explain why she hasn’t been on television since Stand & Deliver.

To see NXT talent in action before determining whether or not to promote them to the main roster. Shirai contested two dark fights on SmackDown in late January and early February.
