Liv Morgan, who is the current Smackdown Women’s Champion, has talked about the recent changes in the WWE backstage staff.
“We’re excited. We’re in great hands,” Morgan stated in an interview with Narin Flanders of Mirror. “We were all shocked. And it felt sudden. But we all owe so much to Vince. So, if he felt like it was time, then it was time. We’re also excited to be working with Stephanie and Nick. Stephanie was born into this business, so there’s literally no one better for the job than her. We’re all so excited and we’re just ready to go to work. We’re all just ready to take it to the next level.”
Vince announced his retirement on July 22. This happened after it came out that he paid more than 5 different women over $14 million to keep them quiet. Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan were named co-CEOs and chairs, and Triple H was named Head of Creative and EVP of Talent Relations.
Morgan also revealed that she is incredibly grateful for the output of love and support she has received during her title reign.
“The response from the fans and seeing how excited and happy they were just meant so much to me. I really wanted to give them something to believe in and I feel like throughout my career sometimes the fans believed in me so much when I felt like I wasn’t giving them anything to believe in. So, I really wanted to do that for them. My first ever accolade, my first ever big win. So, it was just incredible.”
Liv Morgan won the Smackdown Women’s Championship after she used the Money in the Bank briefcase at the same-named pay per view and then used it on Ronda Rousey on the same night. She kept the title after beating Rousey at Summerslam last Saturday. This is her first time holding the title in the company.
