Lucha VaVoom De la Liz Return to the Temple made its triumphant return to the Mayan
Theatre Friday night. A venue where the promotion has a 20+ year history, to put on a
stellar card for Angelenos. If you’ve never been to a Lucha VaVoom show, you’re
missing out on a special experience. Lucha VaVoom is more than just wrestling, it
brings a blend of seduction, violence, and high-flying action.
Being on-site for my second VaVoom show and I can attest; it’s one of the most fun
times you will have as a wrestling fan or if you just want a good night out. The show
opened up with a musical performance by the Volcanics, and between the high-flying
matches, contained jaw-dropping burlesque performances by Ruby Champagne, Anita
Cristal, and Raquel Reed.
Back to wrestling, the coolest thing about VaVoom is that it’s a non-traditional show
where the wins and losses don’t necessarily carry weight. It’s all about the energy of the
crowd fueling the action. If you’re loud enough, even the referees will do a suicide dive
into the crowd. Tonight’s return to the Mayan card featured special appearances as well,
as Brittnie Brooks, Gypsy Mac, PTW World Champion Hunter Gallagher, and TJ Perkins
were all in action.
Check out the photos below, plus head over to Youtube to see interviews with Gypsy
Mac, and one of VaVoom’s longest tenured athletes, Magno. Let us know in the
comments if you plan on attending the next Lucha VaVoom spectacular.
