AEW owner Tony Khan shares an exclusive update on Mercedes Martinez’s whereabouts.
At Death Before Dishonor, Mercedes Martinez successfully defended her ROH Women’s World Championship and forced Serena Deeb to surrender. Before Martinez was able to claim the victory, the two women traded holds and counters in a variety of ways.
During the AEW All Out media briefing, Tony tells Bill Pritchard of Wrestle Zone that Martinez is currently out with an injury, but they’re hoping she’ll be back soon.
Mercedes Martinez, who won the title on May 4, 2022, and has held it for 80 days, is in her first reign. The then-interim champion fought Deonna Purrazzo on that AEW Dynamite program to unify both belts. Martinez currently has held the title for over 120 days.
