ASE Wrestling Season 2 Premiere

The concept of Asé in the Yoruba language translates to “so be it” or “Amen” in English. We see this a final exclamation point for a creation or for a way of life that you feel is a complete state of being. That affirmation that one needs to understand that as you say Asé, whatever you’ve declared, will be so.

We see this with Darius Lockhhart’s creation of Asé wrestling. Starting in 2024, Asé wrestling’s goal was to bring some of the best and upcoming talents within the African Diaspora to showcase what they can do when given the pass to show who they truly are.

This North Carolina based promotion started out with having their monthly or bi monthly events available to purchase online.

Now we have as viewers have the ability to also watch seasons of the Asé programming on their Youtube channel.

Season 1 started off strong. So it’s only fitting for Women Wrestling Talk to review this jam packed first episode of season 2!

We open up season 2 of Asé Wrestling getting us back into our feelings with the emotionally charged recap for the Pan Afrikan World Heavyweight Championship match between Suge D and Caprice Coleman.

The legendary Ron Simmons was in attendance and did the introductions for this match to make it even grander and certainly gave it a big time feel.

We saw that the title did not change hand and that Caprice Coleman was filled with sorrow leaving this match.

As he saw his title aspirations slip away.

Will this feud be revisited in season two of Asé wrestling?…..

That is to be seen.

On the women’s tag team title end, we see The King Bees are making it clear to any female competitors that they aren’t moving from their spot at the top of the mountain.

Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz answer the call as the uber successful former Fire N Flava  tag team. The former tag team champions that were making a lot of waves during their 2020 run in TNA .

They are reunited and want all that King Bees can bring and then some!

We see “The Jet”, Kevin Knight show how mind blowing he is in the ring. Also the startof a looming feud with Ian Maxwell.

A already brewing hatred between Darius Carter and Darius Lockhart is at a fever pitch and I’m sure will come to a head in season two.

So now that we’re caught up with Season 1, let’s dive in the the season 2 premiere episode.

Just as a reminder, the matches and feuds from season 2 of ASÉ wrestling are from events that transpired in the year of 2024.

So, if you see wrestlers that are under contract in other promotions currently, it is because this was filmed over two years ago. At the Asé 4 event to be exact.

The intergalactic brother Darius Lockhart comes out after being introduced by one of WWT’s very own host Gerard Bonner to announce that he still has the itch to wrestle.

So to not muddle the waters with his responsibilities as the owner of Asé wrestling, he has a trusty board that will help maintain order and fairness.

The esteemed board will consist of Mark Henry, Ron Simmons, D.Lo Brown and the one and only Teddy Long as general manager.

The newly elected commissioner of Asé wrestling was announced to be Caprice Coleman. Which received a great reception from the crowd in attendance.

Already this episode is off to a strong start. Showing that business has picked up with the new authority heads that are being put into place.

Yahya vs Dereiss vs Labron Kozone

Triple Threat Match

We see some talent from progress wrestling with Dereiss come into the match in a high energy way. Rapping to the crowd and getting them to warm up to his Birmingham accent and charm as well as his lighting quick flow on the mic with an electric entrance.

As soon as the bell rings it is on in the match. LaBron Kozone delivers some boots to the face of his opponents and is definitely the hard hitter in the triple threat match.

Dereiss gives some impressive German suplexes in on LaBron as Yahya tries to get back into this match, but his opponents are making it hard to really gain footing in this opening battle.

Yahya finally gets in the ring and shows why he is the big man on campus. Dereiss and Yahya get into a chopping fest that looks so brutal that you can practically feel it through the screen.

Diress shows his incredible strength as he lifts up Yahya. Which makes the crowd become unglued.

LaBron rushes back into the ring before Dereiss could possibly get the win over him.

All of the men in this triple threat are leaving it all on the mat. Throwing everything at one another.

Deiress gets a beautiful 450 in that leaves the crowd dazzled.

Dereiss tries to pin LeBron, but Yahya does a senton of the top rope to break that pin. Then dives out of the ring on both competitors.

This match shortly ends after this with Yahya successfully getting the pin on LaBron Kozone.

What a fast paced, high intensity match that really sets the tone for the night!!

Karen Renee vs Tootie Lynn

Karen comes into this match making her debut to Asé.

Both women are instantly showcased as polar opposites. In wrestling styles and physical build. Tootie Lynn clearing sees the size difference. She actually seems like she’s not phased by it.

Karen “Bam Bam” Renee comes into this match just throwing Tootie around, even letting Tootie get some licks in, just to grab her up like a small child and give her some chops in the corner.

The dismantling of Tootie Lynn is real, as Karen steps on her opponent, squashes her in the corner and even gets her in a seriously uncomfortable stretch that may have bent her in half.

When all seems lost for Tootie, she comes back with the fire and endurance of a tried and true babyface. She gets a DDT in, followed by a pin, but Karen is able to tap out.

Karen goes to the top rope and lands flat on Tootie in her signature move, causing all of the breath to leave her opponents body as Bam Bam Karen Renee gets the victory in her debut match.

After the match, Karen Renee calls out Faye Jackson. The retired from ring action Faye Jackson. Faye plays along and comes out to remind Karen, the self proclaimed diva, to remember who mother is in the locker room. Faye accepts the challenge to lace up her boots again in a match with Karen. Let’s hope the commissioner makes this happen. This would be a main event worthy match.

Kevin Knight vs Ian Maxwell

Straight off of his tour in Japan, Kevin Knight comes back to Asé to deliver a hell of a match. A match to decide which competitor can truly say that they’re the fastest.

Kevin comes down the ring with some strong words for Ian. Pretty much making it clear that it should be an honor for Ian to even able to step foot in the ring with him.

I guess Kevin’s time in New Japan made him quite the confident competitor.

As soon as the match starts, it’s like we’re watching two missiles shooting off into the sky. I mean if you blink, you miss so much. That’s how fast paced this match is. The insane quickness from both competitors is something to marvel.

Kevin Knight gets a headlock in to bring the match to the mat. Knight is using his speed and experience to keep the lead.

It must be noted that at the time of this match, Kevin Knight is the first black young lion in New Japan's history and you can truly see everything that he’s learned so much that he has built into his arsenal in this battle.

Knight starts to work on the leg of Ian and really starts to incapacitate him.

Ian works to make a comeback and really starts to show that he can hang with “The Jet”.

There are big time dives, huge leaps to the ropes that seem unreal. Just a reminder to the audience that we can’t do what they do. Even on our greatest day.

Ian Maxwell quickly pushes Kevin knight to the railing to quickly make it back into the ring to get the count out to win against Knight.

I think that this is definitely not over. Especially with he bitterness that Ian Maxwell used a tecnicality to get the win for the night. A speechless Knight left the ring looking like he will not let this loss go. Not by a longshot.

Overall this first episode of the season was very strong.

The mid card level of the promotion looks quite solid. The tease for what’s to come with the women’s tag team division looks promising with the King Bees at the helm.

The potential feud between a powerhouse on the indie scene like Karen “Bam Bam” Renee and the infamous Faye Jackson can really take over several episodes.

The battle between for who is the lighting rod and poetry in motion performer for Asé is going to be very entertaining between Kevin Knight and Ian Maxwell. Considering how controversial the ending to the match was, I know that we haven’t seen the end of that feud.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the general manager Teddy Long and commissioner Caprice Coleman will interact moving forward. That would be comedy gold. As well as this illustrious board of legends that will be calling the shots and making big moves behind the scenes.

The look of Asé programing, the music, the graphics and out of the box commercials in between matches makes it an experience and very much like a hangout spot that you want to be apart of.

Check out the first episode of the second season of Asé Wrestling and share online what you loved it.
