Precious, Patricia Williams, was one of the most charismatic and theatrical valets of the 1980s, a woman whose presence shaped entire storylines across WCCW, the AWA, and Jim Crockett Promotions. Though her work has faded from mainstream memory, her impact remains woven into some of the decade’s most dramatic and entertaining moments.

WCCW: Sunshine II and the Birth of Precious

Precious entered the wrestling world in 1983 through World Class Championship Wrestling, introduced by Jimmy Garvin as “Sunshine II,” an assistant to his original valet, Sunshine. When Garvin fired Sunshine after losing the Television Championship, he renamed Sunshine II as Precious, reviving a name previously used in his presentation. This kicked off one of WCCW’s most heated rivalries: Precious vs. Sunshine, with Chris Adams joining Sunshine’s side. Precious wasn’t just ringside, she stepped into mixed tag matches, adding physicality and tension to a feud that helped define WCCW’s dramatic style.

AWA: Championship Strategy and Freebird Assistance

After a tour of All Japan, Precious and Garvin moved to the American Wrestling Association. There, she helped steer Garvin into a feud with Rick Martel before guiding Garvin and “Mr. Electricity” Steve Regal to the AWA World Tag Team Championship. With help from Garvin’s WCCW allies, The Fabulous Freebirds, Precious played a strategic role in one of the AWA’s biggest tag upsets of the mid‑80s.

JCP/NWA: Sharp Dressed Man, Flair’s Obsession, and Sullivan’s Darkness

Precious reached her peak in Jim Crockett Promotions, where her presentation became iconic. She led “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin to the ring to “Sharp Dressed Man,” spraying the air with her atomizer as if she were freshening the entire arena before her man arrived. Garvin strutted behind her; jiggling, vibrating, and fully committed to his flamboyant persona. Their entrance was part rock concert, part theater, and one of the most recognizable visuals of the era.

She became central to the Garvins’ feud with Ric Flair, who attempted to “woo” Precious with mink coats and grand gestures. She also became the emotional center of the Garvins’ feud with Kevin Sullivan, whose obsession with her drove some of JCP’s darkest storytelling. Precious was literally the keyholder in the chaotic Tower of Doom at the Great American Bash, a moment that cemented her as more than a valet, she was a character who mattered.

WrestleWar ’92: The Final Freebird Chapter

After a four‑year absence, Precious made a surprise return at WrestleWar ’92, aligning with Jimmy Garvin and Michael Hayes as part of The Fabulous Freebirds. Hayes and Garvin had just captured the WCW United States Tag Team Championships, and Precious rejoined them during their celebration. Their entrance to “Badstreet USA” gave fans a nostalgic final run and reminded everyone how seamlessly she fit into the Freebirds’ rebellious swagger.

The reign was brief. The Freebirds dropped the titles to The Barbarian and Dick Slater, and WCW retired the U.S. Tag Team Titles shortly afterward. When Jimmy Garvin left WCW in September 1992, Precious retired alongside him; ending a career built on presence, personality, and unforgettable presentation.

Legacy

Precious hasn’t been written about in years, and much of her work has slipped from mainstream conversation. But she was a defining part of the Garvin act, a catalyst in major storylines, and one of the most memorable valets of her era. Her glamour, fire, and theatrical entrances helped shape the presentation of 1980s wrestling and it’s time her contributions are remembered.
