Less than a month away, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has revealed the full lineup for night one of Battle of Los Angeles. Making the announcement via Twitter, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla revealed the full card for their biggest event of the year. Battle of Los Angeles will take place on January 7th at The Globe Theatre in LA.
Battle of Los Angeles: Night One
Bandido vs. Black Taurus vs. El Hijo del Vikingo
Titus Alexander vs. Daniel Garcia
Michael Oku vs. Konosuke Takeshita
Jordynne Grace vs. Jonathan Gresham
Aramis vs. Shun Skywalker
Alex Shelley vs. Masha Slamovich
SB KENTo vs. Lio Rush
Latigo vs. Komander
This year’s BOLA comes with a solid intergender feel. Masha Slamovich squares off against Alex Shelly, and Jordynne Grace goes one-on-one with her husband, Jonathan Gresham. While indie companies have always been the home of intergender wrestling, this is one of the only times women have been featured on BOLA. Except for Candice LeRae in 2014, who was a last-minute replacement, Grace and Slamovich are the first women to appear on Battle of Los Angeles.
Grace and Slamovich fit neatly amongst some of Mexico and Japan’s hottest indie talent. It could even be argued that they stand out. As two of the handful of wrestlers who get regular TV time, Grace and Slamovich have the broadest appeal of all the people featured on night one. Either way, it shows the growing popularity of women and women’s wrestling.
Those are some of my thoughts, but what do you think? What are your thoughts on intergender wrestling? Are Jordynne Grace and Masha Slamovich, the most popular wrestlers on this card? Let us know what you think. We love hearing from you.
