Jade Cargill faced “the best free agent available” in AQA, according to AEW President Tony Khan, who made the announcement last night. During Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, you may have noticed that AQA resembled someone you know, and if nothing else, she is extremely talented. Many people were left to wonder: Who is AQA?
AQA does look familiar, and you were correct in your suspicions. Her in-ring name was Zayda Ramier, a former WWE NXT talent. A match with former WWE star Toni Storm was one of many she took part in while in NXT. Not long after her debut, she was released from WWE via a medical disqualification due to her anxiety.
Where she comes from is more important. AQA comes from the Reality of Wrestling school owned by Booker T. She graduated with her class of 2018 and was widely regarded as a standout performer. At that promotion, she won the ROW Diamonds Division Championship two times. In her first year working after graduation, AQA was able to secure contracts with RISE and Shimmer.
She even had the opportunity to dip her toe in IMPACT, appearing in Impact Wrestling vs. Reality of Wrestling: Deep Impact, a cross promotional event that happened in 2019. The likes of Kiera Hogan, Shotzi Blackheart, Penelope Ford, Kylie Rae, Hyan, Su Yung, Indi Hartwell, Candice LeRae, Mercedes Martinez, Zoey Stark, and Tessa Blanchard have also competed with AQA. Now she can add the TBS Champion, Jade Cargill to that list.
The combination of AQA’s ring smarts and her likeability and ease both in and out of the ring make her a standout in Women’s Wrestling. Everyone should keep an eye on AQA after her first television appearance since leaving WWE, and remember her name, AQA. Women’s Wrestling Talk will, for sure!
